Top 3 Best Gaming Phones for 2024

Gaming is one of the most hardware-intensive tasks you can do on a device, whether it's a PC, Nintendo, or a smartphone. Although most smartphones today are extremely powerful, they can still underperform when put under a lot of stress.

So, here are my picks for the best phones for gaming in 2024.

Asus is known for making some of the best smartphones for gaming. They use some of the best hardware and intelligent software, paired with sleek design choices and gaming friendly accessories.

Previously, they focused on equipping phones with better processors, batteries, and screens. However, this time, they focus on delivering a great all-around phone that is perfect for gaming as well. The resulting product is still an amazing gaming device but forgoes some of the bells and whistles of a dedicated gaming device.

ROG Phone 8 Pro has some of the luxury features like wireless charging, IP 68 water and dust resistance as well as a great camera. This new gaming phone is an all-rounder device that is more than just a gaming-friendly device.

With ROG Phone 8 Pro, Asus created a gaming phone that will appeal to a broader audience than before.

Nubia’s Red Magic 9 Pro was the first gaming phone that came with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset by Qualcomm.

Nubia didn’t shy away from creating gaming-centric features for their new gaming phone in 2024. The phone has a dedicated game mode switch and an integrated fan with RGB for active cooling as well as a 520Hz touch response display with a 120Hz screen.

Another thing I loved about the phone was the addition of capacitive shoulder buttons that allow you to play on it like you would using a controller.

However, not everything is perfect on this device. The software on their phone is nothing to write home about. Still, we can’t deny the value it provides compared to other phones in the same price bracket.

The Nubia Red Magic 9 Pro is an amazing gaming to get if you’re looking for great gaming performance with long-lasting battery life on a phone that costs around half of the first phone on this list.

This new iteration in the flagship Galaxy S series has the same general design that was introduced with the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. However, it brings a lot of new changes under the hood.

The phone has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 'for Galaxy' chipset that was tuned specifically for Samsung devices. S24 Ultra also has an upgraded vapor chamber that’s twice the size of the one in the S23 Ultra. So, don’t expect the phone to heat up while gaming like the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Although the battery size is smaller, compared to the other phones in the list, Samsung has tuned it so it provides the same battery performance as the other two. Samsung doesn’t go all out with the gaming features but One UI has some basic gaming features that are more than welcome.

I faced some connectivity issues with PUBG, so I called Xfinity customer service to get to the root of the issue. They suggested I use a wired connection for gaming, so I got an Ethernet to USB-C converter which made my gaming sessions a lot less frustrating.

Things I Liked

·         Great Performance for a Normal Phone

·         Excellent Display

·         Bigger Vapor Chamber Than S23 Ultra

Things I Hated

·         No AI Features for Gaming

·         Bulky device

Wrapping Up

When choosing a gaming phone, think about the types of games you play. If you like playing FPS games or ones that need extra controls, you should consider a phone with extra buttons. But, if you need a phone that can play games for longer periods, choose a phone with a larger battery.

No matter which phone you choose, make sure to do proper research before you invest your money.
